Auxins are plant hormones that, among other things, allow roots to grow down in response to Earth's gravitational field, and stems to bend toward the light. In his Perspective Jones discusses a flurry of papers in this issue of Science (Galweiler et al.) and elsewhere, which now report the identities of the auxin transporters that are responsible for creating the internal gradients that direct these responses.
