Dogs of the Plant World

Rottweilers and Chihuahuas don't seem to be of the same species. Still, most folks know a dog is a dog - even in the face of apparent phenotypic evidence to the contrary. But did you know that broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, cauliflower, kohlrabi, cabbage - these plants also are the same species? iPlant collaborator & ASPB member J. Chris Pires (Univ of Missouri), calls this species - Brassica oleracea - the "dogs of the plant world."
