The Science and Ethics of HIV Vaccine Research – Curriculum Appendix

This is the Appendix to the six-lesson curriculum “The Science and Ethics of HIV Vaccine Research,” developed by NWABR. This appendix includes extensive teacher background information about HIV, the human immune system, creating an HIV vaccine, vaccine challenges, and the role of non-human primates in HIV vaccine development. Lesson extensions, resources for consideration of the ethical use of humans in research (i.e., the Declaration of Helsinki and the Nuremberg Code), and additional resources for HIV vaccine information are also included.
