Pond to Cup

This activity allows students to apply their knowledge of the scientific method to solve a problem. Students are challenged to make pond water safe for human consumption while learning about what effects the growth of microorganisms. This inquiry activity was developed by a K-12 science teacher in the American Physiological Society’s 1998 Frontiers in Physiology Program.
